At the beginning of each year, many people make New Year’s Resolutions – some choose to, some feel pressured to. Which camp do you fall into?
In and of themselves, there’s nothing wrong with resolutions. They can be a great motivator to changing one’s life in so many ways. In January the gyms are full of people who have decided to “take control of their weight and health”, the pubs and clubs are less full because people are opting for a “more healthy lifestyle”, and so on. Will it… Continue

It’s actually amazing you know. The amount of creative energy we have, I mean. Don’t you agree? Take a moment, if you will, to think about all the things you have created in your life so far. All the things you’ve enjoyed. All the things that have helped you grow. All the things that have caused you sadness, despair,… Continue

“Every thought we think is creating our future.” - Louise Hay
How often is that you actively and consciously think about what you are creating?
Take a meal you eat, for example. When you sit down to eat a meal what thoughts typically go through your mind? Whether or not your thoughts are about whether you’ve cooked it yourself, or had it cooked for you, how often do you actually think how great it is that you’ve created and manifested the actual meal… Continue

Tenacity and determination are wonderful things and, without them, we’d never get anything done. It can be a real shame when we’re just about to succeed that we stop and give up because it’s taking so long to get to be where we want to be. Patience is most certainly a virtue when it comes to tenacity and determination – without patience many things we start will never be completed.
Having said all that, where do we draw the line between determination to get something done and… Continue

"I cannot believe that the inscrutable universe turns on an axis of suffering; surely the strange beauty of the world must somewhere rest on pure joy!" Louise Bogan Continue
That’s a strange concept for us isn’t it: “There is nothing that we are not”. I mean, how can I be the coffee cup in front of me, the keyboard that I’m typing on, or seat that I am sitting on and be myself too. “That’s just not possible” the Ego voice says in my head. Of course, the Ego would have us all believe that…

One of the challenges that we humans have to deal with is our need to control everything and need to know what’s going to happen in the future. If we know what’s coming we can better prepare for it. Can’t we? Maybe…. Maybe not.

"The great art of life is sensation, to feel that we exist, even in pain." Lord Byron
Feelings – you can’t really get away from ‘em can you? They’re a result of what we think (or don’t think as the case may be), and, more often than not, we’re thinking (even though we’re not always
aware that we are!). We each have an inner dialogue going on that we’ve become so accustomed to hearing that, quite often, we don’t even realise we’re having it. Like living by a busy road –… Continue

You’ve heard me say before that everything that happens in our lives is there because we’ve attracted it there. This all happens because of the Law of Attraction – where we put our focus is what we attract and create in our lives.
Let me now add another theme to this that I’ve touched on a few times before: We are here to learn and experience new things. Why? So that we, and the whole of Source, can grow and evolve. Remembering, of course, that we are Source, and Source is us, so… Continue

OK hands up those of you who, on reading that, immediately thought of the Abba song? (I’d have my own hand raised if I weren’t typing!). In some ways, this song is very connected with what I have to say about money – ever really listened to the lyrics of this song:
I work all night I work all day,
To pay the bills I have to pay,
Ain’t it sad!
And still there never seems to be,
A Single penny left for me,
That’s too bad!
And the chorus has the… Continue

If you think back over your life, about all the things that have happened to you, all the things that you have given away, and all the things that you've received. They've all happened in the present moment. Unfortunately, so often, our focus tends to be on what has happened, what we've given away already, what we will have to give away, and what might happen in the future. Which is a dichotomy in itself really (the latter I mean) because nothing ever happens in the future. Ever. Everything… Continue

One thing which often saddens me is when I see people around me enviously attacking others for something they have. It’s such a shame when it happens.
So often in life, we see that others have something that we would like, or have a skill that is different or surpasses our own in that area. Is that such a bad thing? I think one of the things I love the most about this world we live in is the diversity of life within it. We all make choices about what we want in life, and it’s great… Continue

At the most challenging times in our life it can be very hard to appreciate all the good things that you actually do have. Much of society is not really geared up towards appreciating and reporting on the positive. Take “the news” for instance – it is dominated by what’s NOT going right with perhaps a lighthearted piece at the end of the programme in a poor attempt to balance things out. There are so many positive things happening, in every passing minute around the whole world – but they’re… Continue

“Think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege.” John D Rockefeller
It goes without saying that we live in a very materialistic, and physical world. Most of us live in a way which is focused upon what we have and what we need: A home to live in, money to pay the rent or mortgage; food in the cupboards, and money to purchase it, and so on.
We have a tendency to hoard things as well. “Saving for a rainy day” is something I’ve been hearing since I was a… Continue

You know when your holiday or trip is nearly at its end when you're waiting by the conveyor belt that is the "baggage reclaim". It's one of those parts of the journey that we can either look forward to, or dread. I guess it can really depend upon a couple of things a) what's actually in the luggage and/or b) your outlook on life. If you take a closer look at option a) it can, in fact, also be linked to option b)! Let me expand upon that.
In many ways it's one of those "is your glass… Continue

“Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy -- because we will always want to have something else or something more” ~ David Steindl-Rast
Well if it works for Peter Pan surely it can work for us too! Can’t it? Metaphorically speaking – yes, it absolutely can! But it needs to be a truly happy thought – one that really makes you smile and feel good. The… Continue

"The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers." M Scott Peck

Each of us literally chooses, by his way of attending to things, what sort of universe he shall appear to himself to inhabit.

It's surprising how many persons go through life without ever recognizing that their feelings toward other people are largely determined by their feelings toward themselves, and if you're not comfortable within yourself, you can't be comfortable with others.
