Easy or hard?

“That’s easier said than done” is a phrase I hear quite often. Sorry to smack this to you in such a blunt way at the beginning today – that’s an excuse we use at times not to do what we know would be most helpful or beneficial. Things in life can be as easy as we choose to make them. Things in life are as easy as we tell ourselves they will be. For example, if you keep telling yourself that “cleaning the house is hard work” guess what – it will be! There are a couple of themes that go with this… Continue

Taking time out

It can be great, can’t it – being busy I mean. Whether with work, homelife or with friends and family. When you’re doing something you enjoy it can be a real pleasure to be with other people or being busy with our work. Time seems to pass by so quickly and, before you know it, it’s the end of the weekend or the end of the week, or the end of the month or year! I hear so many people at the moment saying things like “where does the time go?” and “I can’t believe we’re nearly at the end of 2009 alr… Continue

Presumption and assumption

This wonderfully huge and diverse world on which we are physically abiding is full of different things. So many species living their lives in the way that they know how, because of instinct, because of the way they have been taught, and because of new ways they have learned to develop and evolve. So much of what we, as humans, do is because of learned behaviours and patterns that are taught to us as we grow up. There are many things that we all have to do: eat, sleep, drink, go to the loo, brea… Continue

Letting go.... and going with the flow

There’s a line in Star Wars (Episode IV – or the first Star Wars for those of you who are old enough to remember it coming out in 1977!) where Princess Leia says to Grand Moff Tarkin “The more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers”. Now I realise that there probably isn’t a Grand Moff amongst you reading this, or that you are trying to control Star Systems in the Universe! ☺ However, it’s quite a good metaphor for life, don’t you think? Have you noticed tha… Continue

Hush up now.....

I was reflecting back on my ponderings from last week and a phrase came to mind that has stuck with me “if you haven’t got anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. Now this is a phrase I’ve heard a few times throughout my life and it’s always been in relation to talking about other people. It makes a lot of sense really, especially bearing in mind that energy follows thought. So, if you think good things good energy will flow to the person you’re thinking about, and vice versa. Now the… Continue

Helping hands.....

I was in the supermarket the other day and overheard a person saying to her friend “I’ve done my good deed for the day and helped someone pick up their shopping. So now I can relax”. I thought “how great that she’s recognised an opportunity to help someone out who needed it”. Very often people walk past each other either oblivious to the fact that someone could use a helping hand, or worried that if we try to interfere/help we might have our offer rejected, or (quite often) we look to see if any… Continue

There is no try.....

“Do, or do not. There is no try”. Remember that line spoken by Yoda in the film “The Empire Strikes Back”? This was when Luke was going to “try” to do something using the Force. How many times have you found yourself saying the same thing? I know I used to. The thing with the word “try” is, that it almost sets you… Continue

Appreciation Versus irritation

The thing about noticing things about other people is, the more we notice them, the more we notice them! What I mean by that is, if you notice someone doing something that you find irritating or annoying, the more you pay attention to it a) the more you’ll find they do it and b) the more you’ll begin to notice other things that you find irritating. It’s the same as anything in life really – the more you put your attention on something, the more likely you are to notice more of it. I am finding t… Continue

Choosing in the moment.....

Just as an author begins a new chapter in a book, so we begin a new stage in our lives in every moment. Each new moment we live this physical experience can be the beginning of a new chapter of the book we are writing. Whether or not we choose to start a different theme or continue the one before, each new moment we are still more than we were. We have no choice but to grow and expand because of what we’ve learned in the last moment and the moment before that, and the moment before that, and so… Continue

Appreciation not domination

“If other people just did what I wanted them to do all the time the world would be a much easier place”. Hands up if you’ve ever thought this is or something similar. It’s a common thing to think – that we would be a lot happier if others would only behave in the way we want them to. But, of course, in actuality wanting that just causes conflict. For example, let’s say you want to park your car in a particular place in the street and you want all the other neighbours to stop parking in your spac… Continue

change and transform

Everything that lives goes through change throughout its life. Some of those changes are huge and some are very gradual. Some are completely life changing, and some just continue to enhance or enable life. Some nearly kill the thing that’s changing, and others are smooth and relatively painless. If we look at a caterpillar which, after a certain amount of time, forms a chrysalis around itself and then changes into a moth or a butterfly. I don’t think we really know whether it’s painful or not du… Continue

Work in progress

Have you ever seen the television program “Grand Designs”? Basically, it’s about people who are either building a new home from scratch, or totally restoring an old building so that it’s liveable again. I really enjoy watching how completely empty plots of land, or buildings that are little more than a pile of bricks held up with supports, are transformed into beautiful homes. The people, who are building, or rebuilding, start off with a very clear vision and passion for what they want to achie… Continue

Choosing Responsibly

“Asking is the beginning of receiving. Make sure you don't go to the ocean with a teaspoon. At least take a bucket so the kids won't laugh at you.” Jim Rohn I was reading the most recent update by Karen Bishop recently (see it http://good.ly/eldl here if you haven’t read it already and would like to). In it Karen talks about us moving into the role of Earth Angels – whereby we are becoming more and more Light and connected to the Source of our being. We are also being reminded of the Law… Continue

Self nurture

It has become apparent to me over my years working as a therapist and coach, and as a human being, that so many people struggle with the concept of self nurture. So I ask myself “Why is that?”. To answer: I think there are lots of reasons! Lack of feeling we deserve to be nurtured; perceived lack of time for self nurturing; feelings of guilt when we do get five minutes to ourselves; the ego needing to be needed by others; a sense of victimhood and “woe is me”. It could be one or a combination of… Continue

Announcing "Transcend" - An Essence of Illumination

It is with enormous delight and complete respect that I announce the Birthing and Release of the Essence "Transcend". Transcend completes the journey of Essences of Illumination which, you may remember, started with Authenticity. It is in the Reading connected with this essence that you will finally see how the essences link together and aid with the path of Spiritual Evolution. And so it gives me much pleasure and honour to include the channeled reading that goes with the Essence "Transcend".… Continue

Manifestation

"If you think about shortages, you're going to attract more shortage! If you think about what's missing, you're going to attract more of what's missing in your life. " Dr Wayne Dyer Over the last few months, I've noticed that my ability to manifest things into my life has increased massively. You may have noticed this too. No sooner do I think about something that I'd find helpful or fun, or think of something I need, then somehow it has come to me. We are in a time when the energy vibr… Continue

Identification

If I were to ask you the question: “Who are you?” how would you respond? How many labels or descriptors would you need to describe who you are? 1? 2? 10? 100? For example a man might answer that as “I am Joe Bloggs, Doctor, father, husband, worker, happy person, etc”. A more unhappy person might answer “I am no one”. A more spiritual person may answer “I am God”. Now who is right? Any of them? All of them? None of them? There are elements of all those answers given that we may use to describe w… Continue

Helping others

Where do you draw the line at trying to help someone feel better about him/herself or a situation he/she is dealing with? It’s a tough one at times isn’t it. It can also depend upon the person whom you’re trying to help! If it’s a close family member we perhaps work a bit harder than we would for, say, a friend. Why is that? Is it because we love the family member more and so feel very unhappy when they are distressed, whereas the friend has less impact in and upon our lives? I’m sure that most… Continue

Asking for help.....

As I was sitting here this morning my mind was completely blank in terms of what to write for today’s Thought. I was completely stumped and beginning to worried about ending up just cobbling something together “that would do” which I really don’t like doing. I normally have lots of ideas and musings about what to write each week days in advance but… not today. “Maybe a cup of coffee will help” I thought. “And maybe not” said another part of my mind! It was as I was having a look through twitter… Continue

Becoming mired in the quicksand of negativity.....

The other day I was on the telephone to a client (I'll her Susan) who was quite stressed about a situation she was dealing with and she didn't know what to do about it. As many people do, when they have to deal with things that appear scary, Susan was beginning to panic about what to do next and what the consequences of her actions, or any lack of action would result. I could hear her beginning to get almost hysterical and tearful so I immediately got her to stop and doing some breathing techniq… Continue
