Blessing for 2010

May we each be Blessed by The Buddha with Selflessness ~ Self-Mastery ~ Continual Awareness ~ The Medicine of Emptiness ~ Non-attachment ~ a Peaceful mind ~ Humility ~ and Health.

Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.

It isn't more complicated that that.

It is opening to or recieving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,

without either clinging to it or…

What is your Wish for the New Year?

A wish is like setting an intention. A wish is a prayer from your heart. A wish already has the passion behind it that can bring it into reality if you believe it is possible.

Think about your wishes for the New Year ahead. If you could have one or one-hundred wishes come true this year, what would they be?

If you can conceive it, and believe it, you can achieve it.

Let our wishes for this new year fuel our… Continue

After christmas check-in

Well, my sister and her hubby are back home in Philadelphia. We had a really special visit, laid back and real, and just what the doctor ordered, so to speak. I never did get the "christmas" feeling this year. And that is ok too. Although the dinner I made on xmas day was super delicious, and I'm glad it came out special too. All of it was just right.

I am so grateful my sister was here and am celebrating where I am today after so many years of hard inner work. I feel amazing. To… Continue

Celebrating first step toward World Climate Change agreement

First-step taken at Climate Conference in Copenhagen

Moments ago, President Obama reached an agreement with world leaders at the climate conference in Copenhagen to limit global warming to no more than 2 degrees Celsius and to require countries to list their national actions and commitments to achieving emission reduction goals.

EDF President Fred Krupp issued the following statement in response:

Today's… Continue

Celebrating Rumi

In honor of my friend Aryana's new roomate "Rumi," an adopted bijon-frisee/mix, I was reading up on my Rumi again this morning. How interesting that he was born in present-day Afghanistan. And in 2007 he "turned" 800 years old! Well, in September this year he would have been 802. So here is a belated birthday tribute to this poetic master-Mystic.

“When you haven't forgiven those who've hurt you, you turn back against your future. When you do forgive, you start walking forward.” - Tyler Perry

"If we really want to love we must learn how to forgive," - Mother Teresa

“Sincere forgiveness isn't colored with expectations that the other person apologize or change. Don't worry whether or not they finally understand you. Love them and release them. Life feeds back truth to people… Continue

Choose a Good Day

Yesterday is over. Today is a new day. Today can be whatever you choose.
Focus on those things, people, events that make you happy. Choose a god day. (typo... or not?) lol

Aging Gracefully - and gratefully

actress Jamie Lee Curtis

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a… Continue

Celebrating Peace: A Tribute to Mohatma Ghandi

As the war in Afghanistan continues, I find myself thinking about alternative ways this war could be handled. There are no easy solutions. And I was thinking, what would Ghandi do? Here is a tribute to Ghandi. With the hope of recovering peace.

"Generations to come will scarcely believe that such a one as this (GANDHI) walked the earth in flesh and blood. I believe that Gandhi's views were the most enlightened of all the political men… Continue

Say What You Need to Say: Saying What You Feel

Everyone who knows me knows I'm a pretty big advocate for expressing what you feel. One thing I've learned on my own path is that learning to have and express our emotions is key to finding out not only who we are, but also to our healing and authenticity process.

Like the John Mayer song "Say what you need to say," I know how freeing it is to the heart to let all of our feelings have their say. After all, it could be that there is a… Continue

Facing Yourself: Awakening to the Warrior Within

You are a warrior when you have the bravery to face who you are, without fear, embarassment, or denial.

I came across this article in the Shambhala Sun. A wonderful explantion of what it means to be a warrior.

"Many people try to find a spiritual path where they do not have to face themselves, but where they can still liberate themselves. In truth, that is impossible. We have to see our gut, our real shit, our most… Continue

Letting it Be on the Holidays

Letting Ourselves "Be" During the Holidays

I remember last year when Christmas rolled around. I couldn't wait to decorate my porch with the lighted wreathe and garland I had been wanting to decorate with for a couple of years. Well last year I found the perfect one!

I felt so joyful and happy when my hubby and I decked our porch with our "sparkling yet natural" decor. And the lights displayed on homes everywhere seemed to be… Continue

Exploring Our Readiness

I like this little article from DailyOm on exploring our readiness. Are we ready for change? Are we ready to bloom? Are we ready to be ready?

Exploring Our Readiness: In-Between Times

It could be argued that life is more about the time spent waiting for something to happen than it is about something happening. What this means is that the big events in our lives are preceded by many days and nights of dreaming, planning,… Continue

my gratitudes for today

Something mysterious and wonderful is happening and I can barely find the words to express it. Perhaps because it is so personal, perhaps because it is a mystery. But in the closing week of my husband's current job, I can honesly say that I am feeling very happy. A relief, a release, a let-go. And this "now" time to enjoy together, to play and to hold, to "be" together and harmonize again. I say with some reserve that I am feeling a flush of… Continue
