The real secret of inner peace is the ability to maintain inner silence; inner silence requires me to control my thoughts. If I have a clear and calm mind unruffled by thoughts then it allows my inner peace to come to the fore. When I enter into real meditation I am unencumbered by the judgemental mind. I bring the capacity of the heart to the fore; it is in the heart I can feel a real sense of peace.

(I'm not sure who wrote this, I read it years ago and it always stayed with me. I was moving from country to country, looking for peace, when I found it - eye-opening moment)
