COME ON NOW THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS

Military Experiments on Animals ... BARBARIC!
The Honorable Barack H. Obama

Dear Mr President,

I was more than shocked to read that thousands of live goats and pigs are shot, stabbed, dismembered, and burned and that monkeys are poisoned every year in Department of Defense (DoD) training exercises.

A lethal poisoning test invented around the time of World War I--in which animals are force-fed increasing doses of a chemical until they die--is still the single most common animal test in use today. Government regulations still require chemical manufacturers to squirt burning chemicals into rabbits' eyes and onto their shaved skin. Some government-mandated tests kill more than 2,000 animals every time they are conducted. And not a single one of these animal tests has ever been formally proved to be relevant to or able to accurately predict human health effects.

I respectfully urge you to issue an executive order requiring the DoD to replace the use of animals in trauma and chemical-casualty training exercises with available non-animal methods.

Please I beg you, put an END to this Barbarism.

Peace and Respect,

Please do not watch the video --- it is enough to see the page and photos --- again I suggest to not click to the site if you are easily upset... you know what to do ... go to the website below and send the letter and if you also wish then make a donation ... but please please please send the letter

Ask President Obama to Stop Cruelty to Animals by the Department of Defence

http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/obama_dod/3kg6bik4pj66ndwj?

Every year, thousands of live animals are shot, stabbed, dismembered, burned, and poisoned in routine trauma-training exercises under the misguided notion that such cruelty will prepare medics and members of the infantry to deal with battlefield injuries. It's horrific but true: The DoD subjects animals to every kind of violent injury that happens on the battlefield.
Ask President Obama to end cruel military trauma tests on live animals! Help PETA stop animal abuse by making a tax-deductible gift today.

But despite effective and painless non-animal alternatives available for these trainings—including the DoD's own Combat Trauma Patient Simulator—the Department continues to maim and kill countless individual animals in gruesome and totally unnecessary ways, including the following:

* Goats are stabbed, their veins are cut open, their chests are wounded, and their legs are amputated.
* For military trauma training in Hawaii, pigs are shot, mutilated, and killed after enduring a five-day journey on crowded cargo ships.

These and other DoD-authorized but needless training exercises—and the horrific pain and suffering that they inflict on countless individual animals—could be stopped today without compromising military readiness or training.

Animals don’t wage wars; why should they suffer because humans do? All nations must reject chemical and biological weapons tests on animals. It makes no difference to the dog writhing in convulsions whether the man administering the poison gas was Afghan, Israeli, or American. All citizens of the world should come together for the peaceful purpose of condemning and demanding an end to this form of terrorism on innocent animals.

It's urgent that we take action NOW to save these animals. Please join with PETA today by asking President Obama to issue an executive order immediately requiring the DoD to replace its use and abuse of live animals with more effective non-animal methods.

This is a fight that we can win—with your help.

Just last month, after intense pressure from PETA and our supporters around the world, the Bolivian government banned "the abuse and sacrifice of animals" in military exercises. This came just days after we released a shocking video that showed dogs who were mutilated alive during "training" exercises conducted by the Bolivian military. It's also that country's very first animal protection regulation.

PETA pressure works, and—with your support—we will do whatever is needed to persuade the DoD to stop hurting animals.

PETA leads the fight to stop animal testing. Our goal is to expose the abuse wherever it occurs, call in our activist "troops" to shut it down, and push for more effective and cruelty-free alternatives. But we need your support to win this battle against the DoD and others like it.

Your special donation today will support this urgent campaign and help stop the suffering of animals in unnecessary experiments. We must stop this terrible abuse. Please make a tax-deductible gift to PETA today. Your help can mean salvation for countless animals who otherwise will suffer in cruel and needless tests.

Kind regards,

Ingrid Newkirk

Tell Obama: Ban on Torture Should Include Animals!

Days after President Barack Obama signed an executive order banning torture during military interrogations, PETA wrote to the president calling for the ban of another form of military torture: trauma and chemical-casualty training exercises conducted on animals.

Thousands of live animals are shot, stabbed, dismembered, burned, and poisoned every year in Department of Defense (DoD) training exercises designed to train medics and infantry in how to treat various human battlefield injuries. PETA is asking President Obama to issue an executive order requiring the DoD to replace animals with non-animal methods. These methods are readily available and already in use at several military installations. The non-animal methods include rotations in military trauma hospitals and the use of the DoD's own Combat Trauma Patient Simulator.

Please help animals who suffer for military training by asking President Obama to extend his ban on torture to include animals used in military trauma-training exercises.

Please send a polite e-mail to your Congressional representative asking him or her to urge President Obama to issue an executive order requiring the DoD to replace the use of animals in trauma and chemical-casualty training exercises with available non-animal methods.

Universal Love Peace and Harmony

If you're like most people, you were probably horrified to see news footage of dogs locked in metal chambers, convulsing and dying, as al-Qaeda terrorists pumped toxic gases into the chambers. You'd probably be even more horrified to know that your tax dollars fund the same experiments by the federal government right here in the U.S.--and not just at the Defense Department.

As unbelievable as it may seem, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires by law that pesticides be tested on dogs, who are shoved into "inhalation chambers" where they try in vain to escape the deadly poisons that are pumped in. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires companies marketing fluoride products to swab the teeth of 200 rats with the test substance for two weeks, at which time the animals are killed and their heads baked in an oven for an hour. While both the EPA and the FDA require massive amounts of animal testing for the marketing of industrial chemicals, vaccines, and drugs, other U.S. agencies that require and/or conduct animal testing include the Department of Agriculture, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and the Department of Transportation.

And not a single one of these animal tests has ever been formally proved to be relevant to or able to accurately predict human health effects.

These site will give you the facts and the information that you need to help the millions of animals suffering in chemical toxicity tests required by the U.S. government.

In 1993, the General Accounting Office (GAO) began an investigation of the military’s animal experimentation program. Ask your Congressional representatives to contact the GAO and express support for a thorough and complete investigation.

If you don’t know their contact information, please call the Congressional Switchboard at 202-225-3121, provide your state or zip code, and ask to be transferred to their offices

Please also ask them to urge the DoD to implement alternatives to live-animal experiments.

Please contact President Barack H. Obama and demand an immediate end to U.S. military experiments on animals:
